Map Locations of the BUYS Familiy
Pioneers of Columbia County, New York.
This is an extraction from a
Columbia County Map for the area of Livingston, Claremont, and
Germantown, taken from actual surveys of the area in 1795. The
map was first published in 1798.
- The top star on map indicates the
location of the Rudolph Buys farm, as indicated from the following
Rudolph Buise appears on the Livingston
Tenants 1789-1808; (1799-1808), listed as having 70 acres and
45 acres on road from Fite Miller to Ancram, 2 miles from Miller.
Fite Miller's farm appears just northwest of Rudolph Buys property.
- The southwest star is possibly the
location of Rudolph's son, Jacob Buy's, father of John Boice
and grandfather of Stephen V. Boyce. (See
Buys Family Tree) Notice that a Jacobie
is living next door, near Charlotte Lake. The other possibility
is that this may be the property of Thomas Hendrick Boice, son
of Jan Buys and Anna Elisabetha Kuhn.
- Charlotte Lake today is called Lake
