Former Resident Called by Death Mrs. Catherine Anderson Passes After Long Illness

Word was received in Friday Harbor the first of the week, of the death of Mrs. Catherine Anderson, who passed away at her home in Seattle, Saturday, at the age of 69 years, following an illness of over six months.

Mrs. (Catherine Boyce) Anderson was born on San Juan Island, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Boyce, pioneer residents of San Juan Island. She was one of the Island's earliest school teachers.

Mrs. Anderson was the widow of Captain August Anderson, well known Puget Sound pilot, who passed away about five years ago. She had been a resident of Seattle for 40 years. The funeral was held Tuesday in Seattle. Cremation followed.

Surviving relatives are a daughter, Mrs. Harold Waller of Seattle, three sisters, Mrs. Alice Sweeney of Seattle, Mrs. Addie Greathouse of Sedro-Woolley, and Mrs. Don Erickson of Friday Harbor; and two brothers, Steve Boyce of Friday Harbor, and William Boyce of Seattle.
